Yesterday, on April 21, Transparency International - Delna in cooperation with the Central Finance and Contracting Agency of the Republic of Latvia opened a summer school for representatives of Uzbekistan, which will take place from April 21 to 25 within the framework of the project “Improving Governance in Uzbekistan”.

Representatives of the Anti-Corruption Agency of Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the Uzbek NGO sector, are participating in the summer school.

Opening the summer school, Solita Dombrovska, Deputy Director of the Central Finance and Contracting Agency for Project Implementation, noted that

“We are pleased to be able to share Latvia’s experience in combating corruption, because over the past decades Latvia has carried out very extensive and significant reforms that have helped improve the trust of both the public and external donors in Latvia”.

As part of the summer school, its participants will visit the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau, the Latvian Civic Alliance, and will also get acquainted with the Transparency International - Delna’s experience in the field of anti-corruption. It is also planned to visit the Society Integration Foundation and the Baltic Centre for Media Excellence. As part of the visit, it is planned to visit the Kuldiga municipality and get acquainted with the work of the Kurzeme NGO Center.

The overall goal of the project “Improving Governance in Uzbekistan” is to promote strategic, long-term and multidimensional administrative and anti-corruption reforms in the Republic of Uzbekistan and support the creation of a favorable regulatory environment for trade and economic development in the country. The project runs from August 1, 2024 to December 31, 2026.

The Project ‘Improving Governance in Uzbekistan - Inclusive Corruption Prevention’ is co-funded by the European Union and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). It is implemented by an EU Consortium including the Central Finance and Contracting Agency of Latvia and Regional Dialogue under the leadership of GIZ.
