Conakry, November 14, 2025 – On the sidelines of the Transform Africa Summit in Conakry, Guinea, the Central Finance and Contracting Agency Project Manager, Guntis Emīls Refbergs, participated in the launch event of the international project “Capacity Building in Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence.” Under the Global Gateway Strategy and Investment Agenda, this initiative is a major step forward in strengthening digital resilience worldwide.

The launch ceremony was attended by high-level representatives from the EU and its members states, including Germany, France, Spain, and Latvia, alongside implementing agencies and stakeholders from partner countries. The initiative is supported with €4.3 million, funded by the EU and Germany.

As cyber threats become more sophisticated and widespread, integrating AI into cybersecurity efforts is essential for an inclusive, sustainable, fair, and open digital transformation. Under Global Gateway, Team Europe invests significant resources in resilient and secure digital infrastructures. This project aims to enhance protection of critical digital infrastructure across partner countries through increased public-private partnerships. It will strengthen cooperation and knowledge-sharing on cybersecurity and AI. The project will support the skills development of women on the nexus of cybersecurity and AI to bridge the gender gap in the cybersecurity and AI workforce.

With this new project, Team Europe will continue its dedication to creating a safer, more resilient digital environment worldwide. As part of the Global Gateway strategy, this initiative underscores the EU’s commitment to international collaboration and knowledge-sharing, ensuring that all countries are well-equipped to protect their critical digital infrastructures.
