On 29–30 July and 3–4 August 2026, training and practical seminars are taking place in Uzbekistan, covering the Bulungur and Ishtikhon districts of the Samarkand Region, as well as the Buloqboshi and Asaka districts of the Andijan Region.
The seminars bring together farmers, smallholders, agricultural processors, cooperative leaders, and local government representatives to learn from European Union and Latvian expertise in cooperative development, income generation, and rural cooperation.
The sessions are led by a joint team of Latvian and Uzbek experts, combining European and Latvian best practices in agricultural cooperation, rural economic development, and sustainable solutions with local knowledge. Project activities are implemented in close cooperation with the Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The events are organized within the framework of the project "Strengthening the Economic Capacity and Efficiency of Small and Medium-sized Farmers in Uzbekistan". The project aims to enhance the economic resilience of small and medium-sized farmers, promote agricultural cooperation, and improve livelihoods in rural communities. Additionally, the project foresees the establishment of three pilot agricultural cooperatives in Uzbekistan.
With a total budget of EUR 2,617,545, the project is funded by the European Union. It is implemented by the Central Finance and Contracting Agency of Latvia (CFCA) in cooperation with the Latvian Rural Advisory and Training Centre (LRATC).
Together, we are strengthening the competitiveness of small and medium-sized farmers and supporting sustainable rural development in Uzbekistan.
