On 8, 9 and 11 July 2026, three training and practical seminars are taking place in the Urtachirchiq, Parkent and Yangiyul districts of the Tashkent Region of Uzbekistan. The seminars bring together farmers, household plot owners, agricultural processors, cooperative leaders and local government representatives to learn about European Union and Latvian experience in agricultural cooperative development, increasing farmers' incomes and strengthening cooperation in rural communities.

The seminars are led by a joint team of Latvian and Uzbek experts, combining European and Latvian expertise in agricultural cooperation, rural economic development and sustainable solutions with local knowledge and experience. Project activities are implemented in close cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment of Uzbekistan.

The seminars are organised within the framework of the project “Strengthening the Economic Capacity and Efficiency of Small and Medium-sized Farmers in Uzbekistan”. The project aims to strengthen the economic capacity of small and medium-sized farmers, promote agricultural cooperation and improve livelihoods in rural communities. It also includes the establishment of three pilot agricultural cooperatives in Uzbekistan.

The project has a total budget of EUR 2,617,545 and is funded by the European Union. It is implemented by the Central Finance and Contracting Agency of Latvia (CFCA) in cooperation with the Latvian Rural Advisory and Training Centre (LRATC).

Together, we are strengthening the competitiveness of small and medium-sized farmers and supporting sustainable rural development across Uzbekistan.
