On April 23, the High-Level Cyber Resilience Regional Forum took place in Bucharest, Romania. During the event, Latvia, alongside other European Union (EU) Member States and international partners, discussed strategic directions for digital transformation and sustainable development on a global scale. Latvia was represented at the forum by the Central Finance and Contracting Agency (CFCA).
The forum was organized within the framework of the "Digital for Development" (D4D) Hub, a strategic initiative for partner regions, in cooperation with the National Cybersecurity Coordination Centre of Romania (NCC-RO), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Romanian Digitalization Authority. The event brought together leading digital policy experts, decision-makers, representatives of international organizations, and cybersecurity experts from the EU, Moldova, Ukraine, Armenia, and the Western Balkans. Participants addressed a wide range of topics, including regional cyber diplomacy, countering disinformation, and the protection of critical infrastructure.
Latvia and the CFCA were represented by Viesturs Bērziņš, Senior Expert at the Development Cooperation Department, who provided insights into the development of regional cyber resilience and emphasized Latvia’s readiness to support and strengthen this sector. “In an era where cybersecurity and cyber resilience are no longer merely national issues, it is crucial to foster cooperation with countries preparing to join the EU. We are pleased that Latvia’s experience in public administration digitalization and the development of cybersecurity infrastructure is recognized on an international scale,” stated V. Bērziņš during the forum.
In a round-table discussion format with representatives of the European Commission, the possibility of developing a project focused on supporting cybersecurity and cyber resilience in the Eastern European and Western Balkan regions was discussed.
Participation in the forum is financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia.
